Evidence of work
Our driving question was how can we use chemistry to design a work of art for our new STEM building? Our supplies consisted of 4 wood cut out pieces of the word STEM. We used a cardboard box to hold our project. We wrapped the box in wrapping paper. On the back we used oven baked clay. My group created all the paints used on the wood blocks. This project took around 2 weeks to create everything.
Our final project had the painted wood blocks inside of the box with designs all around it. On top of the box were our place cards. On the back of our box we displayed how we created the paint using the clay circles to show atoms of the elements used to create the different colors. We presented our project to our class and displayed the box on chairs and spun it around to show both sides to the class.

Reflection
During this project I worked hard and was not distracted much at all. This project was not boring at all so I was focused the entire time. I also did have a pretty fun group as you can see by the picture of us below. During our project we were gonna create 4 different colors of paint but green and red did not come out well at all. I was supposed to create a red paint but it made a orange brown ugly color. So we decided to change it to green and yellow because our yellow was perfect and we made blue easily. I came up with the idea to mix the two colors to create the green we used for our final project.
I also wanted to make the wood blocks glow by using glow in the dark paint but when I coated them it only showed up on the white sides and not on the yellow and green front sides. I struggled trying to make the red actually red and not brown but we decided to trash that. Next time I am going to try multiple times to create the color instead of giving up easily and trashing the idea.
